The Animals' Easter by Avril Rowlands‘A king,’ my mother said. ‘One day you’ll carry a king on your back.’

So I knew from very early on that I was something special. Not just your ordinary common or garden donkey born to live out his days as a beast of burden. I knew I was different from the start…

The little donkey has a surprise when he meets his special rider. But the first Easter was a time of surprises, and of sadness, and of great joy. You will find them all in these appealing and original animal tales which take a fresh look at the familiar Easter story.

The stories in The Animals’ Easter show the events of Holy Week, seen through the eyes of different animals, who are all affected by their encounters with Jesus. The first Easter was a time of surprises, of sadness and of great joy.

The Reverend Neill Stannard from the Parish of Goring-by-Sea, used the stories during the pandemic in 2021 when normal worship was not possible. He read a different story each week leading up to Easter, and uploaded the recordings so that they could be watched at home.

He has kindly given me permission to put one of these video stories, The Little Donkey, on my website
